Chele Laa Pass, Bhutan
One of our favourite things to do during a journey in Bhutan is to symbolically tie a prayer flag to fly in the wind at Chele Laa.
This pass used to be on the main route from North West India to Bhutan and is well documented in traveller's accounts. At 3,780m, this is Bhutan's highest pass accessible by vehicle. This makes it a great place to visit for trekkers and non trekkers. If the weather is clear there are amazing views from the pass to Mt Jomolhari and Jichu Drakye in Bhutan and Mt Kanchenchunga in Sikkim.
Chele Laa is one of the richest sites for Bhutanese flora and bird life. Many species of Primula, Rhodedendron, Iris, Lilies, Gentians as well as four species of Himalayan poppies are found here. We have a number of treks up our sleeves that start from this point.
