Trashigang, Bhutan
Trashigang Dzong is perched on a summit in the East of Bhutan and is home to one of the country's most famous festival dances – the Black Hat. The dancers spin dervish-like in their celebrations.
Trashigang is a (relatively!) lively town with many bars where you may wish to try one of the local brews. The town's focal point is a central plaza and parking area. The large prayer wheel sitting in the centre of the square also doubles as a bus stop!
Trashigang (also known as Tashigang) Dzong perches on a cliff overlooking two rivers. The annual tsechu that attracts pilgrims from the remote Eastern villages, takes place in the attractive enclosed courtyard. Accommodation is limited so we recommend that those wanting to visit at festival time book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
