Aglag Buteeliin Khiid
The religious site of Aglag Buteeliin Khiid is about an hour's drive north of Ulaan Baatar. This is the home of Purevbat Lama, one of the most influential figures in modern Mongolian Buddhism.
Set up on a hill, you can hike up to the temple and then follow the path though the forests which takes you past sculptures and sacred places including caves that you can pass through, symbolising cleansing of sins and rebirth.
The sculpture park winds up through the forest to where there are far reaching views over the pine and larch forests in the valley below.
