Big Cats
The Big Cats team of the BBC Natural History Unit traveled the world documenting the lives of the huge range of wild cats, some well known and some a lot less. The rare Pallas' Cat was the focus in Mongolia.
Panoramic Journeys researched and engaged with Mongolia's leading authority on these cats to allow the TV crew priveleged access and guidance to the regions known as homes to these rarely seen cats.
Here is a great clip on the BBC site of Pallas' Cat kittens playing.
The end sequence of the episode give a fascinating insight into the challenges for filming on the remote Mongolian step, particularly when looking for rare, tiny, elusive and well camoflaged cats in 1000s of miles of rocky grassland. An exciting storm also added to the thrills of working on location.
